Why Professional Dilemmas need a validated question bank
Clinical Problem Solving questions can be checked against guidelines, textbooks and clinical knowledge. Professional Dilemmas are different. They test judgement: how you prioritise patient safety, honesty, escalation, teamwork, empathy and professionalism in ambiguous situations.
That makes ordinary third-party SJT questions difficult to trust. A question can sound like the MSRA, but if the answer key reflects the judgement of one writer rather than the judgement expected by the official exam, practising it may teach the wrong habits.
Our approach is different

We start with official SJT material, write new questions through a structured SME process, pilot them with real candidates, then use response data to decide which items are good enough to enter the validated bank.
Statistically Validated Questions
At examify we are focused on having the best quality MSRA Professional Dilemma questions. Not just questions that look like the official exam, but ones that have been validated using statistical models to ensure the answers match those of the official exam writers.
Our questions undergo a 6-part, multi-round process to ensure they are valid. We are currently at the piloting stage. Once we have sufficient questions we will release the first validated MSRA SJT question bank.
Item Development

How to use the question bank for the 2027 MSRA
If you are preparing for the MSRA Professional Dilemmas paper, do not just rush through questions. The aim is to learn a to build a consistent model of judgement that matches that of the offical exam writers.
Practise with official SJT questions. Get a feel for the style of questions, the ambiguity within scenarios and common themes in the model answers.
Review near misses. A ranking answer can be partly right. Look at where your ordering differs from the answer key.
Compare with the cohort. If most candidates choose a different option, pause and work out why.
Read the explanations. Read through the official explanations carefully. Nowhere else can you see the thinking of the exam writers spelt out so clearly.
Most MSRA question banks are built around Clinical Problem Solving, with Professional Dilemmas treated as an add-on. At examify we are focused solely on the Professional Dilemmas paper. This is because there is a paucity of valid practice material for this paper. Does examify include Clinical Problem Solving questions?
No. At examify we are focused completely on the Professional Dilemmas paper of the MSRA. Professional Dilemma questions are hard to write, and even harder to validate. Until we achieve our goal of producing the first robustly validated MSRA SJT question bank this will remain our focus.
How many questions are in the free MSRA SJT bank?
The free tier includes 289 digitised official SJT practice questions. Alongside these, you will be shown occasional pilot questions which are sampled from a pool of ~400.
Are the questions official MSRA questions?
Yes, the free bank includes official MSRA practice questions. It also contains official SJT questions from other medical SJT exams, such as the UKFPO SJT. The questions have all been produced by the Work Psychology Group who oversee and write the MSRA Professional Dilemmas paper.
Why does examify focus on Professional Dilemmas?
There is a paucity of revision material for the MSRA Professional Dilemmas (SJT) paper. Even from our collection of 289 official SJT questions, only 47 are at the same level as the MSRA SJT. Other questions come from adjacent medical SJT exams, like the UKFPO SJT. We believe that by designing and validating Professional Dilemma questions using a statistically rigorous process we can provide more useful practice material that will help you prepare better for the paper and gain an edge over other candidates.
What does ‘validated MSRA SJT question bank’ mean?
It means that new questions are not accepted simply because they look realistic. They must pass a multi-stage process including SME writing, concordance review, piloting and statistical analysis before they are included. You can read more about our process here

We plan to release it once enough pilot questions have passed validation. Until then, candidates can use the free tier and help validate new items.
